Renée Zellweger Explains Why She Disappeared From Hollywood for Six Years
Star of late 90s and early 2000s classics like Jerry Maguire and Bridget Jones’s Diary, Renée Zellweger has now revealed why she felt she had to quit acting for six years. The Katy, Texas-born actress paused her film career after making My Own Love Song in 2010 and came back in 2016 for the latest entry in the Jones-verse, Bridget Jones Baby . When asked about why she took a break after working consistently since the mid 90s, Zellweger said (via British Vogue):
“Because I needed to. I was sick of the sound of my own voice. When I was working, I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, listen to you. Are you sad again, Renée? Oh, is this your mad voice?’ It was a regurgitation of the same emotional experiences.”
